Update theme
Ensure your publication remains secure and high-performing by keeping your theme up to date with the latest Ghost features.
To keep your site running smoothly and securely, we recommend that you always utilize the most recent theme version. The latest updates often include critical compatibility with the newest Ghost versions, as well as performance enhancements and styling refinements.
Custom Code Warning
Any custom code modifications made directly to the theme files (outside of code injections) will be erased when you update. Always keep a backup of your modifications.
Important Preparation
Use the exact same file name as your current active theme to preserve your existing custom settings within the Ghost Admin.
To update the theme
Follow these steps to safely upload and activate the latest version of your theme.
Download the latest version of the theme that is compatible with your current Ghost version.
Navigate to the Design & branding settings in your Ghost Admin.
In the top right corner, click the Upload theme button and select your updated theme file.
Upon a successful upload, click the Activate button to deploy the updated theme for your publication.
